BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – West Virginia Governor Jim Justice responded to complaints about his handling of the road on Crestview Drive in Beckley.

Crestview Village Apartment tenants furious about road damage

Crestview Village Apartment tenants are furious about the condition of their road after a logging job that Justice ordered a few years ago on land he owns on that same road.

The logging job left the road severely damaged, as it was not originally constructed to handle extended wear and tear from big logging trucks.

After Apartment tenants spoke out about their problems, Jim Justice told 59News that that the owner of Crestview Drive is the Crestview Village Apartments owner. “From what I know, it’s completely their responsibility. At some point in time, what really needs to be done is a lot of excavation and a new way into the assisted living home. In addition to that, we have to have an agreement with the person who owns the building to relocate his road.”

Justice also said that there must be an agreement made with the County Commission on this matter.

Justice said that the area around the Apartments on Harper Road would be a great spot for many larger businesses to come in like Target and Bass Pro Shop.

Residents of Crestview Village want their road fixed

The resolution to this bad road situation may take a while, but Crestview Village Apartments tenants are asking for any and all donations to raise funds for repairs to be made to Crestview Drive.
