Beckley Mayor sued over honey

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The newly elected Mayor of Beckley is facing a civil lawsuit for allegedly owing money related to honey.

A civil lawsuit filed in Raleigh County Magistrate Court claims that Marvin Mitchem asserts that Mayor Ryan Neal owes him $734 for honey.

Lootpress contacted Ryan Neal for his comments regarding the lawsuit. Neal stated he couldn’t comment much, but his attorney told him it should be dismissed in less than two minutes. A date for the case to be heard has not been made yet, but he would say more after the hearing.

Lootpress also interviewed Mitchem about the situation, during which he shared text messages indicating that they had agreed last year to sell the honey at the store. Mitchem provided an unsigned invoice dated June 26, 2024, for $734 made out to Beef Jerky . In a text, Neal stated they would manage the issue. He informed Mitchem that he was unsure of the sales figures due to his absence from the store for the past four months. Mitchem replied that the order in question was placed before his departure.

Neal advised him that he would address the matter but requested not to send more honey until he spoke with someone at the store about their delivery needs.
