BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The investigation into an accident that left a woman and her horse dead in Raleigh County remains ongoing.

Family and friends of slain horseback rider hold protest in Beckley

Friends and family of the woman held a protest in Beckley, Sunday, demanding answers.

Robin Massey died after she was hit and killed on her horse by a truck in the Glen White area of the county while participating in a group horseback ride.

Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Hatfield reminded us cases like Massey’s take time.

“There is parts of the investigation that have not been completed, and there’s information that we don’t know. Until we know everything there is to know and whether that be cell phone records, whether that be a post-mortem examination report from the office of the Chief Medical Examiner,” explained Hatfield. “All those items are still outstanding. So, until we have the entirety of the wealth of that information, there’s nothing really that can be released. It is a current and ongoing investigation.”

Hatfield tells 59News his office will continue to pursue this case and will update us when new developments happen.
