BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Local dining establishment, the Dog Tag Cafe has announced that it will be closing the doors at its current location as it prepares to reopen in a new area.

The news came on Friday by way of an announcement from co-owner Charles “Chuck” Stewart, a combat medic and purple heart recipient who, along with his wife Jennifer, founded the Dog Cafe in 2022.

Officially opened in October of 2022 in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, the establishment has operated out of the Crossroads Mall up to this point but will be relocating to the Crab Orchard area due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

“I want to start off by saying ‘thank you’ to all of our friends and loyal customers that we’ve had over the last two years… We want to thank you so very much for all of the help and support that you’ve given us,” said Stewart in Monday’s announcement, which revealed plans to bring the cafe to the Crab Orchard area next month as a “full-fledged diner” establishment.

“Please come visit us in September! We look forward to seeing each and every one of you again, and we look forward to seeing all the new people we will get to meet and become friends with.”

While the “unforeseen circumstances” in question were never specifically revealed, the restaurant’s Crossroads Mall location has been closed for nearly two weeks at the time of writing.

While a specific opening date for the new location has yet to be revealed, it has been indicated that the newly reopened Dog Tag Cafe will operate at 1287 Robert C. Byrd Drive in Crab Orchard, and that additional details regarding the reopening can be expected to emerge in the near future.

The establishment’s menu selection will reportedly remain the same as well, with signature burgers, wraps, ice cream, and more expected to make appearances in the new diner-style restaurant.
