BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Beckley Presbyterian Church is celebrating one hundred years in their current building!
Local Beckley church hosts annual back-to-school fest The congregation has been in the large stone church since 1924, though the official date the church was founded was back in 1872.
Monte Mitchell is the current pastor for the church and said their celebration will honor their church community.
“This church helped found the Carpenter’s Corner down here, the congregate meal site, it helped found Hospice of Southern West Virginia. And so, you know, we’re celebrating in worshiping God, we’re celebrating God’s people, and what all they have done and what they have meant to this place over all these hundred years,” said Mitchell.
The celebration will be held after normal church services on Sunday, August 11.
Guests are invited to join them in worship followed by a luncheon with a line up for delicious foods that would have been served back in 1924.
Mitchell said he is looking forward to the Waldorf salad!
