Somers Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday in Style
SOMERS, N.Y. - Mrs. Virginia Flood, a resident of Heritage Hills for 47 years, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, July 7, with family and friends at a brunch at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, CT. Also known as Gee Gee or Ginnie, Mrs. Flood (nee Bernene) was raised in Bedford. She was an administrative assistant to the president of Northern Westchester Hospital for 25 years and has also been a member of Twigs, served on the Board of the VNA of Hudson Valley, and was Secretary of the Heritage Hills Condo Board. Farewell to Globe Senior Staff 2023-2024 Members
Anatoli (Toli) Velikov joined The Globe during his freshman year as a writer, and has since worked his way up becoming Spotlight Page Editor in his Sophomore year, Features Page Director in his Junior Year, and finally Layout Editor in his Senior Year. Throughout his years working on the paper, Toli has made many memories. His favorite times on The Globe include assembling the pages of an issue and watching it come together and coming up with fun ideas for the April Fools issues. He is known on staff as a formatting expert. Outside of The Globe, Toli has participated in many other extracurriculars including being one of the Lead Editors of Mamaroneck Public Radio (MPR), where he produced content for the “Before the Bell” segment, serving as co-captain of both the Cross Country and Track teams, and being Co-president of the Midnight Run club. Next year, Toli plans to attend Columbia University, majoring in Electrical Engineering in the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science.
