KJCCC Football Media Day To Be Held July 26 At Riverfront Stadium
COLBY, Kan. (KJCCC.org) – The annual Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference football media day is set for Friday, July 26th, at Riverfront Stadium in downtown Wichita. Head coaches from all seven KJCCC football-playing institutions will be present at the event which will get underway at 11:30 AM with a meet and greet portion followed by lunch at 12 PM. The press conference will begin at 12:30 PM with KJCCC Commissioner Mike Saddler briefing attendees on matters concerning the conference and the upcoming season. Each head coach will be given the chance to speak about their team for the upcoming year followed by an opportunity for all media in attendance to ask any questions. Emceeing the event for the second-straight year is Pat Strathman, sports director and assistant program director at ESPN Wichita 92.3 FM.

AfterShocks & Mass Street Advance in TBT; Purple Reign Falls
The 2024 edition of The Basketball Tournament opened play in the Wichita Regional Saturday at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita with two of the three home favorites advancing. In the opening game of the day, the top-seeded AfterShocks team of Wichita State alumni used a monster first quarter to advance past No. 8 seed Midtown Prestige 86-71. The AfterShocks ended the first period up 19-4 and never looked back. The teams played the last three periods even but the 15-point deficit was too much for the Prestige to overcome. Markis McDuffie led the way with 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting while grabbing six rebounds for the ‘Shocks.

KSU TBT Alumni Team falls in first round
WICHITA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Basketball Tournament began for Purple Reign in Wichita, but Team Colorado had other plans, beating KSU’s alumni team 71-67. Purple Reign led 18-16 after the first quarter, but then trailed 34-29 at the break. KSU outscored Team Colorado by five in the third to tie the game but former NBA player Andre Roberson made the game winning shot to end Purple Reign’s run.
🏀 Hutch High grad to compete in TBT this weekend
WICHITA, Kan. — Hutchinson High School graduate, Caleb Walker, will once again compete in The Basketball Tournament this weekend for the AfterShocks. Walker graduated from Hutch High in 2008 before going on to play two seasons at Butler Community College in El Dorado and then his final two seasons at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
