Casey Wayne McAllister’s musical path took him from being a sideman in Baton Rouge and New Orleans bands to performing and recording with internationally known artists. McAllister’s supporting player gigs include Hurray for the Riff Raff, former Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy, and, currently, Americana singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim. In the 1990s and 2000s, he performed with two especially adventurous Louisiana outfits, Liquidrone and the New Orleans Bingo Show!, both led by future Preservation Hall Jazz Band singer-saxophonist Clint Maedgen.

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) has announced the appointment of Orlando Hernández Ying as the museum’s Lapis Curator of the Arts of the Americas. This is the first permanent curatorial role at the museum dedicated to an expanded look at the arts of North, Central, and South America. Hernández Ying began the position in February 2024, and in the coming years, he will have a major role in the full reinstallation of the museum’s permanent collection of American art spanning from prehistory to present day.
