NASA ships SLS rocket core stage to Kennedy Space Center
NEW ORLEANS — NASA took another small step Tuesday on the anniversary of the historic launch to a giant leap. Technicians moved the Space Launch System rocket core stage from inside the Michoud Assembly Facility on the 55th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11 on July 16, 1969.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of SELA again today. Temperatures today and Wednesday will rise to the upper 80s to mid 90s. Heat index values will be rising with the temperatures to 108 to 112 degrees. The UV Index will be in the "extreme" range today and tomorrow as well.

We're in another heat advisory from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Highs will be in the low 90s but will feel more like 108 degrees or above. Rain and thunderstorm chances increase in the afternoon and evening. Lows tonight will fall to the mid-to-upper 70s.
Storms ramping up the rest of the week
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The stormy pattern is starting to take shape and widespread downpours are expected for the next several days. Our rain chances go up to 60% today followed by an even larger increase, up to 80% for Thursday and Friday. We are certainly going to have some stormy periods to get through the rest of the week with that wet trend likely continuing into the weekend. Heavy rains will be possible at times so expect street flooding.

A weather system, known as a shortwave boundary, is moving into the area and will stay for the weekend, bringing increased chances of rain. According to the latest forecast models, these storms will come and go throughout the weekend, but will be particularly active during the hottest parts of the afternoon.
