SEATTLE -- The best thing that can be said about the Browns’ long trip and brutally late start here for their 37-33 loss to the Seahawks in the preseason finale is that Deshaun Watson sat this one out and remained healthy to start the opener against the Cowboys on Sept. 8.
Guardians Reliever Elects Free Agency After DFA
34-year-old pitcher Anthony Gose is now a free agent. He chose this route versus going down to the minors in Triple-A Columbus. Gose was designated for assignment by the Cleveland Guardians for the second time earlier this week. Gose has had his struggles as a pitcher for Cleveland this season. He struggled in his only appearance of the season against the Arizona Diamondbacks on August 7th. He gave up two runs on two hits and a walk in 1 1/3 innings, resulting in a 13.50 ERA.

Local family, Metroparks team up for Oak Openings corridor project
SWANTON — Big Sandy Campground’s expected ownership transfer this fall has prompted Metroparks Toledo to acquire 113 acres of adjacent land in the Oak Openings corridor for hiking and other light recreation. Alicia Lawson, a Toledo native who co-owns a local family-owned business called Superior Made, told The Blade in an interview Tuesday that she and her husband, fellow Toledo native Nathan Lawson, have an agreement in place to purchase Big Sandy for $1.3 million. Closing is expected in October. Superior Made RV Resort, the campground’s future name, will be owned and operated by the couple and other family members. The two are longtime RV enthusiasts who built and operated Time Away RV Resort in Lincoln, Ala., a few years ago. The Lawsons sold the Alabama property after they made the decision to move back to Toledo.

Grade 3-8 For private school students on vouchers who lived in the boundaries of the Garfield Heights City School District during the 2022-2023 school year, 198 students in grades 3-8 took English language arts and math tests; 65 students took the science test, which is required only in fifth and eighth grades. Private schools can administer Ohio’s State Tests or over three dozen alternative assessments.
Lima Family YMCA gearing up for fall youth classes
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - With students heading back to the classrooms, the Lima Family YMCA is gearing up for their fall youth classes as well. The Lima Family YMCA offers a whole array of activities to keep kids not only physically active but also mentally active. Fall sports such as swimming, soccer, and karate are taking registrations, along with the Lego League, first robotics team, and the "Snack Attack" cooking class, are looking for participants. The programming aims to promote youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living in youth.
TPD: Man made videos of teen girl getting in and out of shower
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo man faces felony charges for allegedly taking videos of a teenage girl getting in and out of the shower while she was nude, police said. Justin John Carmony, 35, is accused of taking videos of the 15-year-old on two separate occasions this month, according to court documents.
Volleyball opens season with sweep of Midview and Vermilion
GRAFTON — An efficient day on both sides of the net propelled Elyria Catholic’s volleyball team to a season-opening sweep Saturday (8/24) of Midview and Vermilion. The Panthers made quick work of the host Middies in the first match, 25-19, 25-8, before holding off the Sailors in the nightcap for a 25-7, 15-25, 25-10 victory.
WOLFS Gallery to show collectors’ Cleveland School artwork in fall exhibit
The late Northeast Ohio businessman Albert Wasserman collected a wealth of art from Cleveland School artists, spanning pieces created around the region over decades. On Oct. 4, WOLFS Gallery in Beachwood will present the art collection of Wasserman, who owned Cleveland menswear shop Mr. Albert’s Men’s World, in a new exhibit. It will include pieces for sale and highlight the works Wasserman collected from Cleveland School artists, Michael Wolf, director of WOLFS Gallery, tells Canvas.
