It’s going to be a long, long day at the Northwest Nationals, with the first of two Pro sessions not scheduled until 3:30 p.m., followed almost five hours later by the event’s first nighttime session. In the late afternoon, the sun sets past the finish line, creating vision issues for the drivers, so there’s a mandatory downtime during that period.

Ron Capps Uninjured After Crash In Seattle
SEATTLE — Funny Car driver Ron Capps was uninjured after a crash Sunday during the first round of eliminations at the NHRA Northwest Nationals. Capps’ car suffered an engine explosion, struck the right wall, crossed the center line and hit the left wall before his car came to a stop. According to an NHRA release, Capps was awake and alert after the crash and he exited the car under his own power.
Olympics: Keana Hunter and Audrey Kwon
Keana Hunter and Audrey Kwon are both on the Artistic Swimming team. Keana Hunter is from Seattle and went to Issaquah High School, then went to Bellevue College. Audrey Kwon moved to the United States when she was two years old and now both Keana and Audrey have relocated to Los Angeles, along with the rest of the team to train. They train 10 hours a day, six days a week and eight hours of their training is in the water. This is the first year Team USA has qualified for the artistic team event since 2008 and it last medaled in 2004 with a bronze. Artistic Swimming was called synchronized swimming. Keana is 20 years old while Audrey is just 18 years old.

Pro Stock points leader Dallas Glenn is ready to travel west to Seattle for his home race at Pacific Raceway for this weekend’s 35th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals. Glenn, originally from Covington, Wash., will take on all the top names in the Pro Stock field at the NHRA Northwest Nationals as the category returns to Seattle after a year away. Glenn, for one, is ready to return to the scenic facility in his RAD Torque Systems Chevrolet Camaro for the fan-favorite event in the Pacific Northwest.
