Massachusetts school systems ranked best in the United States in new report
Massachusetts school systems are the best in the country, according to a new report. Enrolling a child in school is a major step for any family, so it’s important for parents to know how schools fare in their area. WalletHub has put together its list of the states with the best and worst school systems in 2024 by comparing all 50 states and Washington D.C. across 32 measures of quality and safety, such as pupil-teacher ratio, dropout rate, and median standardized-test scores. Massachusetts was ranked number one overall, here are some of the categories the Commonwealth placed in:
Assistant principal who quietly resigned from Hull High hired in similar position in Mansfield
Julie Burke, now known as Julie Burke Israel, was mentioned among other hires by Mansfield Superintendent Teresa Murphy in a district newsletter on June 20. When questioned about Burke’s absence from Hull High in May, former Superintendent Judith Kuehn asked that the public “respect her privacy” and would give no further details about the administrator’s prolonged absence. Burke Israel did not attend Hull High’s graduation, and her resignation was not discussed at the school committee’s June 24 meeting. The Times’ request to committee Chair David Twombly about why the district did not announce Burke Israel’s departure has gone unanswered.

Parent/Guardian Information Session Addresses Education Concerns
On a hot Thursday evening in the middle of July, about a hundred people from Norfolk, Wrentham and surrounding communities attended a parent information session at the King Philip Middle School. The session was designed to address concerns and answer questions about the impact the new overflow shelter in Norfolk would have on the schools. Pathfinder, Berkshire vocational schools awarded career training grants
The state has awarded $13.4-million in educational grants to 21 organizations and schools across the state for careers in the trades, construction and manufacturing industries including two in western Massachusetts.
Milford Awaits Potential Boost in School Funding from State Budget
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Milford could potentially get more money for schools in the recently signed state budget. While it still has to be approved by the governor, Patch reports the $58 billion state budget includes an additional $2 million over last year’s budget for Milford’s education funding. There is also reportedly some money for upgrades to the Fino Field athletic complex, the sprinkler system at Town Hall and the Mass Central Rail Trail as well as a new staffer to add some services for Chris’ Corner Recovery Resource Center.
