LYNDEN, WASHINGTON - A hazmat situation in downtown Lynden led to a temporary shutdown of part of Front Street on Friday afternoon, following an incident at the Front Street Market at 112 Front Street.

Emergency crews from Whatcom County Fire and EMS arrived at the scene around 3:41 PM after receiving reports of a potential hazard. Responders quickly taped off the entrance to the market as they began their investigation. Early images from the scene showed a gas pump machine on the ground, though officials have not yet clarified the circumstances surrounding its presence.

The situation was resolved after approximately an hour and 25 minutes, with the incident being officially declared closed at 5:07 PM. However, authorities have yet to disclose details about the nature of the hazard that prompted the response.

The incident caused a brief disruption to the Gas Station, but the scene has since been cleared, and normal operations have resumed.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
