Update (3:50 p.m.): The scene of Friday morning’s crash was cleared and traffic resumes around 3:35 p.m., according to the city.

    The original story is below.

A semi-truck tipped over on Squalicum Way on Friday morning, and the accident has closed a stretch of the road for several hours.

The wreck occurred around 6:30 a.m., and the road has remained closed to traffic between Squalicum Park and Guide Meridian while Washington State Patrol conducts an inspection of the vehicle, according to Megan Peters with the Bellingham Police Department.

The driver has been taken to a hospital, but injuries are unknown at this time.

There were no witnesses to the crash, and it was called in by another truck driver who came upon the scene. No cause has been determined, but it appears the truck was going too fast around the corner, Peters said.
