Belton, TX ( FOX 44 ) — Thousands of people in the Belton community came together to celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade followed by a festival with carnival rides, food vendors, and shops!

With parking being difficult to support the community, Fort Cavazos set up a bridge across the river to help attendees cross to celebrate. the river also proved to be a great resource to cool down from today’s heat, with children and adults having a blast while playing in the river!

Stacy Albright expresses how she thinks the Fourth of July is the most relaxed holiday.

“You can just serve a hotdog or a hamburger. Everybody’s happy and just have a fun time,” says Albright.

Growing up she and her family had a tradition…

“I love fireworks and I love setting off fireworks. That’s always been a big tradition in our family growing up,” says Albright.

Haddie and Jude Kirkpatrick come to this event every year to spend it with family and friends, and after the day’s festivities, they all have a family meal at Chiefs.

“We always go to this big wildflower resort-like festival on the third of July, and it’s just great to do with, like, family and friends,” says Haddie Kirkpatrick

“my favorite part about the parade is definitely the Corvette. that’s really cool,” says Jude Kirkpatrick.

The Brown family comes down to Belton to celebrate with family, eat great food, and, of course, the the car show. They have four cars they entered and one of them happens to be very rare…

“Ours is garnet red, 69, they made six of them and there’s only three left in existence,” says Phillip Brown.

The heat didn’t seem to stop anybody from celebrating this special holiday.
