Suspects sought in deadly shooting on Edgefield Road in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting on the 300 block of Edgefield Road.

The shooting took place in Belvedere, S.C. on Wednesday, July 17 around 3:14 p.m. Officials responded to 356 Edgefield Road near the Talk Now Cellular building, after a 911 caller reported hearing gunfire while inside the store.

One male victim has been pronounced deceased by Aiken County EMS.

According to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables, the victim in of shooting death on Edgefield Road on July 17 has been identified as 27-year-old James L. Wright, Jr. of North Augusta. He was pronounced dead on the scene at approximately 3:46 p.m. from at least one gunshot wound.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, July 19 in Newberry.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying the four suspects pictured below. Security camera footage shows they arrived in a light colored Infiniti SUV. Three of the suspects armed with guns reportedly shot Wright. These suspects are considered Armed & Dangerous.

North Augusta Department of Public Safety (NADPS) and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office is assisting.
