City Council gives OK for historic former Armory in Rockford to go up for sale
ROCKFORD — The city will place the historic former Illinois National Guard Armory on the market in hopes of finding a buyer who will redevelop the 88-year-old building. City Council members voted 11-0 Monday night to approve placing the vacant 57,000-square-foot building at 605 N. Main St. up for sale. Harlem-Roscoe Fire will transition to full-time staff in August
The Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department is transitioning to a 24/7 full-time staffed department effective August 1, 2024, supplemented with part time personnel. Harlem-Roscoe Fire Chief John Bergeron says, "This transition marks a new era for Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department." Bergeron says residents will see "faster, more reliable service."
