Over 40 dogs abandoned at Belvidere dog park

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — Authorities are working to discover who abandoned over 40 dogs in Belvidere’s Hammertime Unleashed Dog Park on Monday morning.

Mick Johnston took a video of the puppies running loose on the grounds and posted it to Facebook.

The dogs were taken in by the Boone County Animal Services, who made a request for donations to help care for the sudden influx.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out in regard to the 40+ abandoned dogs at Hammertime Dog Park. Many folks are calling & we appreciate the concern. We are concentrating on all the dogs so forgive us if we are unable to return all the calls. We can certainly use your donations. Any monetary donations will be applied to our veterinary fund. Thank you for your patience & understanding,” the organization wrote .

Hammertime Unleashed Dog Park is located the Beaver Bluffs Conservation Area along US 20 in Belvidere.
