Vietnam Veterans Honored in Chautauqua County
Over 100 Vietnam Veterans gathered at Cassadaga Valley High School on July 1st to be a part of a commemorative pin ceremony. “This is truly one of the most meaningful things that I have done as a member of congress," stated Nick Langworthy, U.S. Congressman for the 23rd District of New York. "To hold this event and honor the sacrifices of our Vietnam Veterans.”
UWSCC Recognizes Volunteers of the Year
A group of 19 volunteers was honored recently during the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County's annual Volunteer of the Year recognition ceremony. Held at Chautauqua Adult Day Services on June 18th, the event featured glowing praise from the United Way and its community partner agencies for the service provided by the volunteers to the local nonprofits. The evening event had a puzzle theme this year, with the tagline "Volunteers: The ESSENTIAL Piece."

The United Ways of Chautauqua County are currently seeking nominations for the 2024 Joseph H. Mason Award. The award recognizes the community service of a local union member. Now in its 43rd year, the Joseph H. Mason Award and “Salute to Labor” recognition dinner honor the memory of Mr. Mason and all that he did for our community. This year, for the first time in its history, nominations are open to union members from the entire county.

2 People Wanted By New York State Police
Do you know either of these two individuals? New York State Police want to speak to them in connection to a crime. New York State Police at Homer need your help in identifying these two suspects - a male and a female. Trooper responded to a call at the Walmart on Bennie Road in Cortlandville on May 14, 2024. It was reported that the two suspects left the store with a full cart of items and did not try to pay for the items. The suspects fled the Walmart in a black pickup truck. Despite their best efforts, Troopers have not been able to locate the suspects and need the public's help identifying them.
