BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Pacific Power notified nearly 7,000 southwest Bend customers Wednesday of an emergency service interruption planned for about 15 minutes late Thursday night, starting at midnight, an outage they said is “necessary to maintain equipment.”

"An emergency power interruption is scheduled for Friday, July 26th, starting at 12:00 AM and ending at 12:15 AM, lasting for approximately 15 minutes," the notice said. "The interruption will affect 6,927 customers in Bend, OR. This emergency interruption is necessary to maintain equipment.

"While we are suspending numerous planned interruptions due to weather events, this interruption is critical to preserving system reliability and safety," the notice said.

"Our crews will take all steps possible to minimize the length of the interruption, but some of the work can only be safely performed with the service de-energized. As a precaution, please unplug any sensitive electronic equipment during the interruption. Pacific Power appreciates your patience. Thank you."

Another, far smaller interruption is scheduled to affect a single Bend customer next week.

"A planned power interruption is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31st, starting between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM and ending at 12:00 PM, lasting for approximately 3 hours," that notice stated. "The interruption will affect 1 customer in Bend, OR. This planned interruption is necessary to replace a transformer."
