Beaver Stadium Construction Updates: What Student Gate A and the Super Ribbon South End Scoreboard Look Like
Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft, we have learned, doesn’t mess around. And neither do the construction crews and cranes operators that were working on Saturday to feverishly finish some early key elements of the multi-year, multi-hundred million dollar renovation of Beaver Stadium. Time is of the essence. While downtown State College and the central Penn State campus may have been the region’s epicenter on Saturday, just a bit more than a mile to the north crews were at work trying to complete essential punch list items for a renewed Beaver Stadium. The 2024 season is looming. James Franklin’s Nittany Lions were...
Knoch transfer Colt Sprankle earns postseason eligibility after PIAA board overturns WPIAL
The PIAA board overturned a WPIAL decision and granted postseason eligibility to Knoch junior Colt Sprankle, a football-playing transfer from Armstrong. Sprankle, his parents Ryan and Brandi, and Knoch administrators attended an appeal hearing Wednesday in State College where they testified that the family’s move into the district was a work-related necessity. All transfers after 10th grade are postseason ineligible for one year unless they qualify for a waiver.
Virginia wide reciever Ben Whitver set to return to State College next week
Penn State will welcome one of Virginia’s up-and-coming 2026 receivers to campus next Friday, July 26, in Powhatan native Ben Whitver. If that town sounds familiar, it’s because Whitver is currently a teammate of the future Nittany Lion tight end and 2025 prospect Matt Henderson. Henderson’s father, Mike, also happens to be Whitver’s head coach. […] The post Virginia wide reciever Ben Whitver set to return to State College next week appeared first on On3.

Parkland’s Dawkins ready to handle bigger role with slimmer build on Penn State football’s O-line
Nick Dawkins will have a critical role for the Penn State football team this fall. And he’ll be shouldering those responsibilities with a thinner build. Dawkins, a Parkland High School graduate, is on track to be the Nittany Lions’ starting center when they kick off the season Aug. 31 at West Virginia. To prepare for those duties in the system of new offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, the offensive lineman lost 15 pounds.

The Saints routed Waynesburg in the first round of the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs but dropped a 17-12 heartbreaker to Mohawk in the quarterfinals.
Penn State 2026 prospect Elijah Satchell discusses MVP performance at Big Man Challenge, potential fit with program
Football is a game of size. So, when checking prospects at Penn State's summer camps, it's normal to start with whichever players literally stand out from the crowd. That's doubly true when evaluating offensive and defensive linemen, such as the ones at Penn State's final Big Man camp on June 21 last month. Our story today starts with a four-star offensive lineman in 2026, Tyler Merrill. At 6-5 319 pounds, even if he wasn't already near the top of Penn State's offensive lineman board, he would be the moment he stepped onto campus the first time. We spent the better part of that camp following Merrill to see how he was progressing in his high school development. But something interesting happened once the camp concluded with one-on-one pass-rushing drills. He began to struggle against a smaller, more unassuming defensive end. Here's where we first meet New Jersey pass rusher Elijah Satchell. PIAA proposal to force 2-time state champions into higher class lacks support from WPIAL board
Jul. 15—The WPIAL doesn't favor a potential PIAA rule that forces two-time defending state champions into a higher classification. The proposed change to the competitive-balance rule was discussed and disliked by the WPIAL board Monday because it could unjustly punish successful programs that didn't use transfers to reload, said WPIAL president Brian Geyer. The proposal is one of several ...
