    Senator Wicker threat trial postponed as defendant fires attorney

    OXFORD – A Benton County man charged with threatening U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker fired his second federal public defender Friday, forcing the trial, set for July 22, to be postponed.

    While U.S. District Court Judge Glen Davidson reluctantly agreed to the move, he cautioned William Carl Sappington, 59, of Hickory Flat, that this will be the final public defender appointed for him.
