    One dead after Beryl related tornado touches down in Bossier Parish

    Storms caused by Hurricane Beryl have left a Benton, Louisiana woman dead Monday, July 8.

    According to Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, the fatality was reported after a tree fell on her home in northeast Benton.

    Beryl made landfall early Monday morning-- bringing severe weather to northwest Louisiana.

    According to the sheriff's office, the path of destruction in Bossier Parish began in Elm Grove and continued up to Highway 2. Heavily affecting areas such as Bellevue/Wafer Road, Linton-Bellevue/Crouch Road area and Old Plain Dealing Road.

    Sheriff Julian Whittington said he would like to remind everyone that some roads have been heavily affected and could be closed for quite some time.

    According to the Bossier Parish Police Jury, crews are working to clear trees and powerlines off highways and roadways.
