Toms River and Hanover were playing for a state championship. The game was called when a lightning sensor went off. The Toms River Little League 12U softball team thought they still had a chance at the state championship Wednesday night and advance into tournament play but a ruling by Little League baseball ended that dream.
429 Student-Athletes Named to the CAA Spring Academic Honor Roll
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) has honored 429 Monmouth University student-athletes as members of the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the 2024 spring semester. The conference honored student-athletes for three different levels of achievement. Those with a 4.0 grade point average are recognized as High Honors with Distinction. Student-athletes with a GPA between 3.7-4.0 are recognized as High Honors. Student-athletes with a GPA between 3.0-3.7 are recognized as Honors. 47 Hawks were awarded High Honors with Distinction, 124 were awarded with High Honors, and 258 were awarded with Honors. NEW ORLEANS, La. – Five Monmouth University student-athletes were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) during its announcement of the 2024 Academic Awards. From the men's team, Chris Bagnell , Taylor Boorse and Jan Volkmar were each honored as All-Academic Athletes, while Veronica Chainov and Yasmeen Tinsley were recognized on the women's side.
