Willemsen departs Tennessee State Basketball Staff
Tennessee State assistant Russ Willemsen has departed the Tennessee State basketball staff, and is headed to the corporate world. The veteran assistant posted the following on X earlier today: Willemsen had been on Penny Collins staff at TSU for the past six seasons, and also spent five seasons at South Alabama (2013-2018) and eight seasons at Tennessee Tech (2005-2013). Blades Brown, one of the nation’s top amateur golfers and a three-time defending TSSAA golf individual state champion, is no longer attending Brentwood Academy. Brown, the No. 4 boys golfer in the class of 2026, will take online courses this year in order to make his golf schedule easier to manage, his mom, Rhonda, confirmed. He would have been a BA junior during the 2024-25 school year.
