OC Awards $5000 for 1st White Marlin Caught in 2024 Season
Ocean City officials have awarded $5000 to an angler who caught the first white marlin of the 2024 season. Angler Jake Emche and vessel Captain Andrew Dotterwich caught the white on Sunday, June 2 at about 1:30pm while fishing on the “Fish On” about 25 miles east of the Baltimore Canyon. The marlin was released shortly after it was caught. Emche was awarded with the check during this week’s Ocean City Mayor and Council meeting. Ocean City is the Whit Marlin Capital of the World – and the catching of the first marlin of the season is the symbolic start to the fishing season.

Route 24-Angola-Robinsonville project continues
Work continues on improvements at the Route 24-Angola Road-Robinsonville Road intersection between Lewes and Long Neck. According to Charles McLeod, director of community relations at the Delaware Department of Transportation, the Robinsonville Road side of the intersection is currently closed to traffic as work is taking place to widen the road, and add new drainage and a stormwater pond.

Ocean City, MD - Ocean City, Maryland is the White Marlin Capital of the World, and anglers across the area celebrate every year when the first white marlin is caught. On Sunday, June 2, 2024 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Angler Jake Emche, along with Vessel Captain Andrew Dotterweich, caught the first white marlin of Ocean City's 2024 season while fishing aboard Fish On which was 25 miles east of the Baltimore Canyon. Rehoboth to host USLA regionals at Tower Beach July 10
The Rehoboth Beach Patrol will host the United States Lifesaving Association’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Lifesaving Championships starting at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 10. Due to construction of Rehoboth’s beach patrol headquarters at Baltimore Avenue, the venue for this year’s competition will be at Towers Beach in Delaware Seashore State Park, off Route 1 south of Dewey Beach.
