Olean Oilers Sweep Horseheads Hitmen in Doubleheader
OLEAN, NY — The Oilers swept a doubleheader against the Horseheads Hitmen Sunday. Shortstop Joshua Wilson's solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead in Game 1. The home run would turn out to be the winning run in an Oilers 3-1 victory.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Starting pitcher Adam Martin pitched all seven innings, allowing just one run on two hits and striking out five batters. Oilers first baseman Chase Fischer hit an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning of Game 2 and would eventually score off a wild pitch, giving the Oilers a 2-0 lead. The Oilers would go on to win, 5-1. Drew Norton started, pitching five innings and allowing one run on four hits. Relief pitcher and Cuba native Joe Long closed out the game, pitching two innings, allowing no runs or hits. The Oilers will make up a game against the Hornell Steamers on Monday.
