Authorities have identified the two 17 year-old Elk River boys killed in a crash in Big Lake Saturday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Donavan Paul Gobel and Anthony Scott Krider were killed in the single-vehicle crash on Highway 25 that happened at around 2:45 a.m.

Another 17-year-old, Charles Gabrelcik, who is also from Elk River, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.

According to the state patrol, the trio were in a BMW that an officer from the Big Lake Police Department allegedly saw driving at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 25.

The officer turned their vehicle around to conduct a traffic stop, and a short time later found the car had crashed and rolled over.

Gobel and Krider were declared dead at the scene; with Gabrelcik taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with critical injuries.

The state patrol says at this time, it's unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

FOX 9 reports that a memorial has been growing for the two boys, with loved ones going to the crash site to leave balloons, flowers, and candles in their memory.
