Tempers flare in courtroom at sentencing for gunman in fatal Davenport shooting
Tempers flared Wednesday when an 18-year-old Peoria man was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for the fatal 2023 Davenport shooting of a Moline man. Our Quad Cities News crew was in the courtroom while Alex Markovich, who at first faced charges of first-degree murder and intimidation with a dangerous weapon – injure/provoke fear pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter and intimidation with a dangerous weapon – injure/provoke fear.
Man from Davenport, IA arrested after 3 vehicle accident in Boscobel
On Sunday around 9:00 pm, Grant County Dispatch received a 911 call of a three-vehicle crash south of the City of Boscobel. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded and identified 55-year-old Frank Klee of Davenport, IA as the driver of vehicle that had lost control and struck a guardrail. Frank’s vehicle came to rest in the lane of traffic, causing blockage. Two other vehicles collided attempting to avoid the blockage causing disabling damage to both vehicles. The drivers of those vehicles were 38-year-old Jordan Powers of Lancaster and a 31-year-old Grace Ideker, of Onalaska, WI. Only minor injuries were reported by the parties involved. Grant County Deputies investigated and arrested Klee for Operating while Intoxicated – 1st Offense. The passenger in Klee’s vehicle, 29-year-old Hailey Perez of Davenport, IA, was cited for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Boscobel Police Department, Boscobel Fire Department, Boscobel EMS, and Terry’s Tire and Tow assisted at the scene.
Police: Arrest made in 2023 downtown Davenport fatal shooting
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - An arrest has been made in connection to a 2023 homicide investigation. Trevelyan Pugh, 24, was arrested by the Davenport Police Department on Thursday in connection to the 2023 shooting-death of 34-year-old Dimitri Martin at Third and Ripley Streets in downtown Davenport, according to a media release from DPD. Pugh is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit forcible felony, assault while participating in a felony wit serious injury, going armed with intent, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and use of a dangerous weapon in commission of crime.
Davenport family to host fifth annual walk, rally to bring attention to gun violence
DAVENPORT, Iowa — A push to curb gun violence across the Quad Cities will take a step forward this weekend. The family of 16-year-old De'Zia Bailey will host a two-day event including a walk and rally in Davenport. De'Zia was shot and killed while in her home off Grand Avenue in Davenport on March 4, according to police.
