Greg Minnaar, a man who needs no introduction, announced this morning that the upcoming World Championship in Andorra will be his 28th and final World Champ race. Greg Minnaar has been a household name in the downhill scene for three decades, racing at the highest level and securing 4 World Championship titles throughout his legendary career, one of which was in 2012 in his home city of Pietermaritzburg.

There is no denying Minnaar's greatness, and his name will forever be remembered in the history books. But just because he is hanging up the race number doesn't mean he is out of the industry. Recently, Greg was brought into the Norco Race Division to help develop and harness the talent of the next generation of racers. With his insight and vision, I’m sure we will see some impressive results from the Norco Race Division with the Goat in the captain's chair.

“Over the last almost 3 decades, I’ve raced against the best our sport has seen, and they’ve all pushed me to transform myself over and over again. It has been an absolute privilege and honor, and I’m grateful for every person who has been a part of this journey with me.
It was a dream come true to win the World Championship in South Africa, in the city where I was born and raised. 11 years later, the wheel has come full circle, and here in Andorra, in the parish I now live, my heart swells with gratitude and bittersweet emotion as I gear up for my 28th and final World Championship.
I owe a huge thanks to my wife, family, team, friends, and fans. Your support has meant the world to me. The sacrifices you made kept me going when things got tough, and I’m still amazed at what we were able to achieve together… while having a good time!”

Racing is in Greg's blood, and it has been an honor to watch his career take shape over the years, from his first World Championship win in 2003 to his latest World Championship spot in 2021. With an astounding 22 World Cup wins overall, there is an obvious reason Minnaar has earned the Goat accolade.

Let's hope everything goes smoothly in Andorraa this year; we don’t want to see a 2023 repeat!
