One man is dead in shooting involving Mississippi police officer early Saturday morning

One man is dead after a shooting involving a Mississippi police officer early Saturday morning.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) reports that the shooting occurred at 1 a.m. on Lakeview Boulevard in Biloxi.

Officers from the Biloxi Police Department repsonded to a call for service on Lakeview Boulvared. MBI reports that when officers arrived on the scene, they encountered Jason Moore, 42, who pointed a weapon in their direction.

The responding officers then discharged their weapons, striking Moore.

Moore was transported to a local hospital but eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The officers involved didn’t receive any serious injury.

MBI says this information is preliminary and subject to change. MBI is currently assessing the incident and gathering evidence.

Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
