A San Francisco restaurant waiter has been fired after being accused of printing a racial slur on a Black family's receipt , KTVU reports.

Whitney Washington said her family was visiting Pica Pica Arepa Kitchen in San Francisco on August 12 when they spotted the N-word on their receipt.

“Here n****s," the receipt read in the upper right-hand corner.

Washington noted that they were the only Black customers dining in the restaurant. She said she checked with other patrons to see whether the receipt incident was a restaurant-wide error or a targeted situation.

“She showed us her receipt, and in the same spot where ours said, ‘Here the N-word.’ Hers only said ‘here,'” Washington said of another customer's receipt.

After being confronted about the receipt, Washington said the waiter told her that he didn't know how the racial slur got there. Washington then asked for a manager who allegedly wasn't on duty during their visit.

According to KTVU, a Pica Pica Arepa Kitchen manager identified as Vena said she learned of the incident the next day and immediately fired the waiter involved.

“It’s totally unacceptable. “We fired the employee right away. I didn’t know what is going on,” Vena told the outlet.

According to Vena, the waiter declined to explain what happened and threatened to sue after he was fired.

San Francisco Police were made aware of the incident but it's unclear whether the department will launch an investigation.
