    Rumble Ponies’ RHP Brandon Sproat selected to 2024 Futures Game roster

    BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — The list of Mets prospects headed to MLB All-Star Weekend in Arlington, Texas, may be short; but the lone ranger representing the Mets is an exciting Binghamton pitcher.

    Right-hand pitcher, Brandon Sproat, who joined the Rumble Ponies in May following a promotion from High-A Brooklyn, was announced as the only Mets prospect to make the Futures Game roster at this years MLB All-Star weekend.

    Sproat was the 56th overall selection in the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Florida. The young right-hander has really turned up the dial in 2024 and had many more eyes on him as a result. Sproat is ranked 98th on the MLB Pipeline midseason Top-100 Prospects list and currently the sixth-ranked prospect in the Mets farm system according to MLB Pipeline.

    Since joining the Rumble Ponies on May 13, Sproat has pitched to a 1.94 ERA in seven starts, dominating the Eastern League with a upper-90s fastball and sharp breaking pitches. In 41.2 innings, Sproat has collected 43 strikeouts to just 10 walks, He has allowed three runs or less in six out of his seven starts with Binghamton, even going seven innings in three of those appearances.

    This is back-to-back years where the Mets are sending a starting pitching prospect to the Futures Game, with Mike Vasil (AAA) representing the team in 2023. Sproat is the first current-Rumble Ponies player to make the trip to All-Star weekend since Francisco Alvarez went to Los Angeles in 2022. Former Rumble Ponie, Brett Baty, made the team in 2021 along with Alvarez when they were in High-A Brooklyn.

    The MLB All Star Futures Game will take place on Saturday, July 13 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
