On June 17, James Arrington, 56, of Jemison, was found in medical distress outside of the Fire House Shelter in Birmingham. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he died from his injuries on June 26. There was no evidence of trauma or foul play.

In 2020, Arrington listed an address in Jemison, but has past ties to Prattville, Collins, Miss., and Hattiesburg, Miss. Ancestry searches suggest that he and his family are from Mississippi.
