BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — An early warning for Monday morning commuters: Starting July 8, traffic on a portion of Divide Avenue going east will be closed due to road construction.

According to the Bismarck Engineering Department, Divide will be closed going east between 4th Street and State Street. Eastbound traffic will be diverted to Capitol Avenue.

Westbound traffic on Divide, however, will be open through the construction zone.

Work on the road is expected to take about six weeks, weather permitting.

Meanwhile, starting July 8, reconstruction of the intersection at 3rd Street and Thayer Avenue will begin. Work will consist of rebuilding the roadway, curb and gutter in the area.

Access to all local businesses in that area will be maintained and detours will be in place for traffic around the intersection.

Work there is expected to last about 10 days, weather permitting.
