Tanner Groseclose spent last year playing for the Bismarck Reps. However, he got a handful of opportunities to pitch with the Govs, and with his brother Jace Groseclose. Now, Tanner is a mainstay on the Govs roster, and he and his brother Jace get to compete together for a full season.

“Definitely a great leader, for me, you know just coming back in the dugout and having that good energy in here,” Tanner said. “Then going home and seeing him every night. It’s definitely some good vibes coming from that.”

For Jace that leadership comes even easier being on a team with Tanner, who he knows so well.

“I feel like I understand him best out of all of these guys obviously. So, I can tell when he gets a little worked up, even when he gets a little down on himself,” Jace said. “I’ve seen him do it a million times before, so I can just give him advice. And you know, make sure he’s in it still, and still confident.”

And of course, as the big brother, Jace says he feels a little bit of outside pressure from his parents to make sure that Tanner is on the right track and playing his absolute best

“Definitely, one hundred percent, you know even when he was in high school, and had to have a bigger role in high school, I was told to give him advice for being a leader on that team,” jace said. “You know, definitely as a bigger brother and on the same team they expect me to do so much more on the team. I don’t mind it”

For long time Govs head coach, Mike Skytland, having two brothers on the same team isn’t something she had seen in his time with the Govs

“You know this is really the first time we’ve had brothers on the same team. We’ve had brothers over different years, and that’s cool also, but to have two brothers on the same team, and they’re real close it seems,” Coach Skytland said. “So, it’s been fun to see. I think they have a good relationship in that they can kind of treat each other like brothers a little more, and get on each other in a kind of a way that brothers can do. i think that kind of keeps it light and I think that actually helps both of them.”
