BISMARCK, N.D. — The Bismarck Bobcats are back at work this weekend with their three-day main camp in Wisconsin.

After a trip to the Central Division Finals this past season, the Bobcats roster this upcoming year could be filled with familiar faces. Despite the unknown of who will return to don the black and gold, head coach Layne Sedevie is excited to get back to work with a motivated group, looking to build upon the 2023-24 season.

“We did have some guys drafted in the USHL and really until the season starts and until report date, you don’t really know that number,” he says. “So, hopefully a motivated group. I mean, we made it to the central finals. The exit meetings with those guys were motivated and they get the summer to kind of recharge the batteries and come back ready to go. But, I also think you need those experiences in the playoffs. It’s so invaluable to have those guys get that experience and come back motivated. Should be a very good thing.”

Heading into main camp this week, Sedevie and the team are eyeing the back end at defenseman and goaltender. Bismarck is focusing on replacing key pieces in the net and on the defensive side of the ice.

“I would say D and goaltending,” he says. “I think those are maybe maybe a little bit of a unknown for us right now. So, I think that’s something that I’m excited to see some of the tenders and draft picks and all that sort of stuff. Once you get to see those guys with your returners, I think that’s where you get a really good feel with where you’re at.”

The Bobcats main camp runs from today through Sunday in Hudson, Wisconsin.
