BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — Last Friday, the president of Dickinson State University announced that he would be stepping down from the position.

Now, KX News has reached out to the N.D. Board of Nursing to get a comment on his resignation.

In a press release sent to KX, the Board noted that contrary to Easton’s statement, they “did not” force Easton’s resignation, nor did they disallow the hiring of a nurse administrator or any other faculty of DSU.

However, they did issue a standard notice to DSU for a review of shortcomings within the nursing program at the college on Thursday, July 25.

These shortcomings, according to the BON, were what resulted in a mass resignation of DSU’s nursing administration and professors last week.

The ND DON gave a statement to DSU on Friday, July 12, which proclaimed that “DSU is encouraged to continue its efforts to restore its nurse administrator position; then restore its faculty to pre-resignation staffing levels with the qualified individuals necessary for the effective instruction of future students.”

According to the ND BON, following Mr. Easton’s resignation, there are more than 111 students left without instruction due to this conflict.

DSU must soon present its plans for the program, after which the BON will choose whether or not to approve their changes or end the program altogether.
