The Quail Run Fire forced residents near Cordes Lake north of Black Canyon City to be placed on "SET" pre-evacuation status on Saturday, according to the Yavapai County of Emergency Management.

At 6:09, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office returned residents near Cordes Lake to a "READY" status, meaning the fire was no longer threatening the area, deputies said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

On Saturday afternoon, the wildfire was first reported by Yavapai County officials on X, formerly Twitter.

Residents in the area should immediately prepare essential items and be ready to evacuate at any time, according to county officials.

An American Red Cross evacuation center was set up at the Mayer High School north of Cordes Lake at 17300 East Mule Deer Drive in Spring Valley. Sheltering was available for animals as well, county officials added.

The cause and current spread of the wildfire were unknown.

    This is a developing story.
