Columbia woman receives probation for nailing man in basement
A Columbia woman who nailed a man shut in a basement pleads down to one of the three charges filed against her. Alexis Fenton had been charged with third-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, and third-degree kidnapping. She pleaded guilty Monday to the domestic assault charge and was sentenced to five years supervised probation. If Fenton violates her probation, she faces four years in prison.
Plane Crashes At Camdenton Airport After Pilot's Seat Reportedly Slides Backward During Takeoff
CAMDENTON, Mo. — A strange fluke is blamed for a plane crash that took place at the Camdenton Memorial - Lake Regional Airport (KOZS) earlier this month. According to a source familiar with the incident, the crash happened on Thursday, July 11. Airport Manager Corey Leuwerke confirmed the incident and explained what reportedly caused it.

It is hard to believe that school starts in just a month. The campus is a flurry of excitement as we prepare to welcome faculty, staff, and students back to school. Some of the highlights from the summer maintenance have been updating our daycare classrooms with new paint and new flooring and updating the electrical needs. We have updated the flooring in the music room and added a new red carpet entrance. There are so many more projects being worked on throughout the school. Please let me know if you have a talent you would like to share with the school. We need lots of help!
Centralia R-VI Schools construction update
Nails are being hammered and ladders climbed at the Centralia R-VI School District. For at least one aspect of the district, summer vacation is a relative term. While other buildings are relatively quiet, employees of Watkins Roofing – Columbia are doing a full replacement, a tear-off, replacing the decking, insulation and roofing over the CHS gym, band room and boys’ locker room.

Teen dead, 5 injured after violent 2-vehicle crash near Kansas City
JACKSON COUNTY —One teen died and five others were injured in an accident just after 9p.m. Tuesday in Jackson County, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2022 Honda HR-V driven by Preston A. McCarty, 18, Holden, Missouri, and a 2008 Chevy Cobalt driven by Nathanel J. Jankura, 19, Holden, Missouri, were both southbound on U.S. 50 at Milton Thompson Road.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — St. Louis County Council passed legislation this Tuesday removing barriers to the state's Senior Tax Credit program.
