BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A golf tournament, which aims to help connect those in need with a life changing companion, is on the way in Blair County.

The annual “ Service Paws Golf Tournament ” is scheduled for July 17, starting at 11 a.m. with lunch and registration. At 12 p.m., the tournament will start and awards and dinner will be held at 4:30 p.m.

All of the money raised will go toward helping Service Paws of Central Pa., which is an organization that helps connect those with disabilities with a service dog.

“Service Paws was started back in 2011 by a woman who had gotten a hearing dog. And she had raised the money herself,” Joseph Fagnani said. “She had a little bit of money leftover so she started Service Paws to help other people purchase service dogs because they are very expensive.”

Fagnani also highlighted that the charity is needed more than ever as some service dogs can cost over several thousand dollars.
