N.J. town sued for alleged discrimination against home for recovering addicts, alcoholics
A Gloucester County zoning board is being sued for discriminating against recovering addicts by blocking a recovery home from operating in a residential neighborhood. The five-bedroom home, located in Washington Township and run by the organization Rising Sun Recovery, opened last year to help men recover from addiction and alcoholism, according to a lawsuit filed in New Jersey federal court last month.

The Borough of Stroudsburg has moved to help stimulate development downtown by enacting a property tax incentive. In two public hearings during the council meeting on Tuesday, June 18, that lasted just over a combined 20 minutes, Stroudsburg Borough Council designated certain properties as eligible for Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance (LERTA) and unanimously approved the LERTA ordinance.
