The Fighting Hawks suffered a four-set setback in the season opener dropping its matchup with UC Irvine, before returning to the Johnson Center to battle host New Mexico in a thrilling five-set affair that ended with the Lobos fending off match point in sets three and four to win in five sets. UND drops to 0-2 to start the year.

**Walmart in Fargo Evacuated After Bomb Threat, No Explosives Found**
Chad Olson, the man accused of causing the death of Bailey Jo Bernstein in a hit-and-run accident, now faces upgraded charges of criminal vehicular homicide. The incident occurred in Wahpeton, North Dakota when Olson allegedly struck 20-year-old Bernstein with his vehicle while she was walking with her mother. Bernstein later died from her injuries at a Fargo hospital. Olson, who had a blood alcohol level of .11 shortly after the incident, claimed he thought he had hit a mailbox or a dog. The court case against Olson remains ongoing as the legal proceedings continue.
Minot Man Charged With More Than 50 Felonies Pleads Not Guilty
(Minot, ND) — A Minot man facing more than 50 felony charges in connection with sexual offenses in three different cases has pleaded not guilty. Julian Monson was in court Thursday for the third case, in which investigators say he tried to solicit sex from an underage girl, and also sent her explicit videos and photos. In that case, he’s charged with attempted use of a minor in a sexual performance, luring minors by computer, and nine counts of promoting obscenity to minors. Monson will be back in court on September 11th for 41 additional felony charges related to the other two cases.
