BLOOMFIELD, NJ--The Bloomfield High boys' tennis team put together another solid season, led by head coach Mike DiMasi.

The Bengals won five matches in 2024, including a 3-1 victory over Union, on April 29.

When the season had concluded, DiMasi admitted it was a sad goodbye to a talented group of seniors.

"They were a superior class," DiMasi said of the upperclassmen. "They embodied the renaissance of a student-athlete. Special people who helped build, design and sustain an exceptional boys tennis program, over the past four years. Thank you."

Bloomfield had wins over Newark East Side, Golda Och, Kearny, Newark Central and Union.

The seniors on the 2024 roster were Augustus Figenshu, James Orosz, Adrian Reyes, Nicholas Sprock and Kyle Walbeek.

The BHS golf team had a young core, and head coach Rob MacNett saw some steady improvement over the course of the season.

"We finished 2-16, 2-11 in conference," said MacNett. "I was  happy with some of the younger players that improved steadily, who will return next year."

Among the returnees in 2025 are expected to be juniors Joey Testa, Gabe DelFierro and Mason Villalobos.

"Overall a great group of kids, just a tough season overall," said MacNett.

Bloomfield's top three scorers this spring were Sam Lugo (+14.8), Jack Reilly (+15.7) and Damian Torres (+16.3).
