Blount County gas prices hovered over the state average for the second week in a row, as prices fell across the nation. As of Monday, April 22, the gas price average in the county was $3.30 per gallon.

According to a release from AAA — The Auto Club Group, gas prices fell an average of 4 cents per gallon in Tennessee last week. The state gas price average is now $3.34, which is 9 cents less than a year ago.

“Tennessee drivers saw a nice change in pace for gas prices, with slightly lower prices emerging at the pump over last week,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman for AAA. “This time of year we typically see a lull in gasoline demand since spring break trips are in the rearview mirror, but the next big travel holiday isn’t until Memorial Day.”

Tennesseans might get another break at the pump if oil prices continue to decline this week, she said, but the market is uncertain. The national average price is $3.67 per gallon.

    Quick facts:

58% of Tennessee gas stations have prices below $3.25.The lowest 10% of pump prices are $3.The highest 10% of pump prices are $3.57.Tennessee is the seventh least expensive market in the nation
