OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police confirm a body was found late Monday while crews responded to a fire at a north Omaha apartment. Omaha Fire officials tell 6 News crews were called to a three-story apartment building near 49th and Ames Avenue just after 11 p.m. One person was rescued from the building; another was pronounced dead at the scene.

OMAHA, Neb. — An Omaha man convicted in a deadly shooting at a car show will serve time in the state penitentiary. Austin Petersen was sentenced to 16 to 17 years in prison for manslaughter in the death of 21-year-old Tristan Vincent in June 2023. He received credit for 321 days served.

Omaha man who drove through 2022 Halloween event sentenced to prison
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The man who drove into a crowd of people during a Halloween celebration in 2022 learned his prison sentence Tuesday. Dontavius Levering, 33, was sentenced in Douglas County Court to 12-16 years in prison after pleading “no contest” to one count attempted assault on an officer and one count use of a weapon to commit a felony. He was given credit for 541 days served.
Motrocyclist Dies In Highway 34 Collision
A motorcyclist died in a head-on collision late Friday night on Highway 34 in western Mills County. According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, 39-year-old Jacob Otto Saxer of Bellevue, Neb., was traveling westbound on the eastbound side of Highway 34 near Mile Marker 1 when his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with the front of a 2019 Kia Niro driven by Leeva Unique Kitchens, 25, of Sidney.
