BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Southwesterly flow will keep the heat and humidity going the next few days. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds today with a slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm popping up this afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s along the coast due to the southwest wind but inland locales will reach the mid-80s to around 90°. Dew points will be in the mid-60s to around 70° today which will make it feel a bit hotter. An upper-level disturbance will cross the state tonight bringing us a chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms during the overnight. Temperatures will drop to the mid-60s to around 70° for nighttime lows.

Penobscot Narrows Bridge suicide prevention barrier project delayed
PROSPECT -- A project to build suicide prevention barriers along the Penobscot Narrows bridge has been delayed. Paul Merrill with the Maine Department of Transportation says they devised a plan to begin construction on the barriers after finishing a lighting project on the bridge. That lighting project is now complete. However, due to the design of the barrier project, engineers have determined they need to perform a wind tunnel test with digital and physical models to ensure the overall safety of the bridge.
