OAKLAND, Maine (WABI) - The Waterville Area Habitat for Humanity and other local companies are building a house for a veteran. After a recent announcement that the Waterville Habitat for Humanity ReStore would be closing at the end of July, they decided to pivot their main focuses on building and repairing houses for people in need.
WCMP Diabetes Services to offer foot care clinics
BELFAST — Waldo County General Hospital will begin offering diabetic foot care clinics for patients beginning early this fall. The day-long clinics, which will run by appointment only out of the hospital’s diabetes care offices at 119 Northport Ave., in Belfast, will provide foot care including nail trimming, callous removal and wound identification. The practice plans to offer clinics once or twice a month, depending on patient volume.

Philip Frey Offers Annual Plein-Air Painting Retreat at Schoodic Institute
In partnership with the Schoodic Institute, artist Philip Frey will offer his popular annual plein-air painting retreat. Dedicated painters will work on location at the ever-inspiring Schoodic Institute (which is part of Acadia National Park), surrounded by working fishing harbors and the Schoodic peninsula. Frey will present pivotal lessons designed to deepen students’ painting experience, knowledge, and confidence. Students will learn to improve their paintings by simplifying and organizing what one sees through sketching, the use of limited color palettes, as well as understanding the principles of masterful compositions used by the Old Masters. There will be helpful one-on-one instruction, lively demos, and group critiques. Daily social hours will offer an opportunity to connect with fellow artists. This workshop is a well-balanced blend of hands-on painting and time to relax and enjoy the exhilarating Maine coast.

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack — and that a fix was on the way.
