BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — An emergency excavation caused detours in the Bluefield area of Mercer County due to a main line blockage, according to the Bluefield Sanitary Board.

Portions of Scott Street are routing traffic to move around the project, which is estimated to last from around 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024. The blockage will also impact the Princeton Avenue Intersection.

Temporary detour announced for months-long Bradshaw Creek Bridge closure

Due to repairs, the surrounding traffic will be directed to alternate routes. People who are traveling northbound on Scott Street can go down Raleigh Street to Tony Wagner Boulevard. Cones will guide those who are traveling on Raleigh Street through the Warlick Area parking lot to be able to access Princeton Avenue.

Sanitary Board members say the repairs are set to finish by the end of Friday, July 12, 2024.
