A man arrested last month for threatening to shoot up a Boca Raton synagogue now faces hate crime charges.

Deputies arrested 26-year old Paul Morris and initially charged him with written threats to commit a mass shooting or threat of terrorism after he was linked to an Instagram message stating that he wants "Hitler to come back to kill all the Jews."

Morris pleaded not guilty to that crime, but now prosecutors have increased it to a first degree felony under the Florida Hate Crime Statute that was passed last year by state lawmakers.
